Do not give up
Paul knows how tired good people get. Doing good is rarely dramatic; it is repeated: a meal made again, a prayer prayed again, a person loved again.
The promise is in the middle of the verse: at the proper time. God sets the time of the harvest, not us. Our part is to keep sowing and to trust Him with the season.
Lord, when I am weary, renew my strength. Help me keep doing good, trusting that You will bring the harvest at the right time. Amen.
ἐγκακῶμεν (enkakōmen (eng-kak-OH-men)). “Grow weary” or “lose heart.” The word describes giving in to discouragement and quitting. Paul’s answer is not to try harder but to remember the harvest God has promised.
Galatians was written to churches under pressure to add rules to the gospel. Just before this verse Paul speaks of sowing to please the Spirit, and just after it he calls believers to do good to everyone, especially the family of faith (verse 10).
