In every circumstance, give thanks
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Paul isn’t asking for a feeling we conjure on command. “Rejoice always” sits right next to real hardship in his own life — this is a posture, not a mood.
Gratitude “in all circumstances” doesn’t mean every circumstance is good. It means we keep looking for what God is doing even inside what we wouldn’t have chosen.
